Corvus was founded by Mark Albrecht out of his desire to build things of lasting value for his clients.
Mark has been swinging a hammer for as long as he can remember. Growing up, his parents always seemed to be either remodeling a house or building a new one, and he was conscripted to contribute labor (albeit reluctantly during the teenage years). This working knowledge of carpentry led to construction jobs during high school and college. An innovator at heart, after finishing his masters degree in business administration, Mark landed in the technology industry where he spent 20 years managing projects to build software applications. As a dad to three kids (and two dogs), something always needed to be built to meet the needs of a growing family, so Mark continued his family tradition of DIY home improvement and woodworking projects.
For six years, Mark worked in construction tech, primarily focused on software used by building inspectors. Part of his job was to shadow users on the job site, which was a great education in building codes and seeing where builders were most likely to lose time and money unnecessarily. Every time he was with builders on a job site, he had a recurring thought that he would rather be doing what they were doing than what he was doing. This feeling was amplified while building a custom home in the Bitterroot Valley and being hands-on with the building process.
Software has a very short shelf life. As a result, most software companies are focused on short-term gains rather than building something that will last, an approach that conflicted with Mark's values. These shared desires to be hands-on in the building process and to create things of lasting value led Mark to trade his laptop for a tool belt and to found Corvus Construction.
